About Us

WeMA was born from a simple belief: music has the power to transform lives and bring people together.

Our story began in 2015 with a summer music camp at Westmont College, where young musicians discovered the joy of learning, performing, and making music together. That program laid the foundation for a vibrant musical community and inspired our vision for something even greater.

Today, we are excited to begin a new chapter with the launch of Westmont Music Academy (WeMA). Building on the spirit of our original summer program, WeMA expands that vision into a year-round music academy offering high-quality instruction, ensemble experiences, and performance opportunities for students of all ages and stages of musical development.

Inspired by a desire to cultivate a thriving musical community in Santa Barbara, WeMA is a welcoming place where students can learn, grow, and belong. We believe that music education is about more than learning notes and rhythms—it is about discovering beauty, developing character, finding one's voice, and becoming part of something greater than oneself.

Located at Westmont College, WeMA provides high-quality music education through private lessons, group classes, chamber music, workshops, and performance opportunities. Our goal is to make meaningful musical experiences accessible to students and families while fostering artistic excellence, personal growth, and lasting connections.

We hope to bring together students, families, teachers, college musicians, and local artists through shared musical experiences that enrich both individual lives and our broader community.
